The church of Archangel Michael is located in a central region of the Troodos mountain range, in the Marathasa valley, in the village of Pedoulas. It was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1985, among nine other painted Byzantine churches of the Troodos mountain range. According to the inscription above the north entrance, the church was constructed and embellished with frescoes in 1474, thanks to the generosity of priest Vasilios Chamados. The priest, along with his wife and two daughters, is shown above the dedicatory inscription presenting an architectural model of the church to the Archangel Michael.
