Overview

Paphos is a city on the southwest coast of the island of Cyprus in the Mediterranean. It has various sites associated with the cult of goddess Aphrodite, whose fabled birthplace was in Old Paphos, which has been inhabited since Neolithic times (Kouklia). New Paphos is the modern city that encompasses the harbour and Paphos Archaeological Park’s historic remnants of tombs, fortifications, theatres, and villas.
