A wide variety of museums, art galleries, and cultural landmarks throughout the city illustrate Nicosia’s rich historical and cultural past. Nicosia is, sadly, the last divided capital of Europe, and it is home to numerous wonderfully decorated churches and museums that showcase its centuries-old traditions.

Leventis Museum

 Leventis Museum  in Cyprus
The Leventis Municipal Museum in Nicosia exhibits the history of the capital city of Cyprus from its beginnings in 3000 b.c. to the present day. The museum was established in 1984 by the decision of Nicosia’s mayor, Mr. Demetriadi. Named for the generosity of Mr. Leventi, who invested in and rebuilt the structure from its ashes before donating it to the Nicosia Municipality.

A.G Leventis Gallery

 A.G Leventis Gallery  in Cyprus
Between 1950 and 1970, Anastasios G. Leventis amassed and curated the current entire collection of European Art of the A.G.Leventis Foundation, known as “The Paris Collection.” Mr. Leventis amassed an indisputable cultural riches of artistic artefacts from a variety of art movements as a result of his assiduous efforts and his lengthy residence in Paris.

Museum History of Cypriot Coinage

 Museum of the History of Cypriot Coinage  in Cyprus
Inaugurated in 1995, the Museum is dedicated only to the history of coinage and its collection. The museum holds 500 varieties of coins for each historical period of Cyprus’s history. From coinage minted by rulers like Evagoras and Alexander the Great through the first official Cypriot pound currency.
